The development in the
UAE has happened at an unprecedented scale and there is a deep awareness
about the traditions defined by past generations that can be lost in
the bustle of modern life. The strategy of the UAE government is, therefore,
to preserve the cultural heritage and to inform the youth of today about
the customs of their valiant ancestors. As seen on a visit to a school,
party or festival venue, music, dance, poetry and short stories of the
Emirates, as well as their traditional sports such as falconry, camel
racing and sailing are all well alive and rooted.
A key part of this
process involves ensuring that the physical evidence of this rich heritage
is not lost as well as the absolute priority of the conservation of
many of its archaeological wealth and unique architecture and its manuscripts.
The literature and customs are widely studied at school and exhibitions,
museums and the reconstruction of lost monuments have contributed jointly
to create a context and a vivid experience of this cultural legacy.
